Nigerian Stocks Open the Week in the Green as ASI advanced by 1.73%

To start the week, the benchmark index rose by 1.73% to settle at 34,843.44 points due to price appreciation in AIRTEL, DANGCEM and some Mid-Cap stocks. Consequently, YTD return and market capitalization settled at 29.33%, and N18.21 trillion, respectively. 

 

A total volume of 208.0 billion units of shares, valued at N3.70billion exchanged hands in 4,154 deals. ZENITHBANK was the most traded shares by volume and value at 38.6m units and N875.6m.

 

 

Investor sentiment as measured by market breadth was positive (1.85x) as 26 stocks gained against the 14 that lost.

 

Performance across sectors was however mixed.  The Industrial and Insurance indexes recorded gains as they appreciated by 1.51% and 1.25%, while the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas & Banking indexes fell by -0.93%, -0.66% and -0.33% respectively.
