Snapchat is developing a TikTok Duets style feature named “Remix” for responding to Snaps.
Users will be able to make new content using their friends’ Snaps a “remix,” if you will.
Users will be able to react to a friend’s story with a remixed Snap at first. To do so, record your own Snap while the original is playing, similar to a TikTok Duets.
Snap states that the feature is now in external testing.
Remix is currently being tested among friends, but it is expected to expand to other areas of the Snapchat platform in the near future.
A spokesperson said, “Externally, we are testing the ability to respond to a friend’s story with a remixed Snap.” They explained, “It lets you expand on your friend’s Snap while capturing your own alongside it as it plays for contextual conversations on Snapchat.”
Snapchat’s Remix function presents users with a screen where they can select from a range of choices for mixing Snaps, including side-by-side to top-and-bottom formats, as well as others including material overlaid or reacting to a Snap.
