Widebot, an Egyptian AI startup, has secured $3 million in funding

Widebot, an Egyptian artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has successfully secured $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round to advance the development of an Arabic large language model (LLM).

Originally founded in Cairo, Widebot has since relocated its operations to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The company is focused on creating “AQL Mind,” a generative AI model tailored specifically for the Arabic language. AQL Mind is designed to comprehend a diverse range of Arabic dialects and accents, enhancing its applicability across various contexts.

The funding round was led by Keheilan Asset Management II, backed by Saudi investment firm Wafra, with participation from Enza Capital, DisrupTech Ventures, LoftyInc Capital, Den VC, and SparkLabs Ventures.

Mohammed Nabil, CEO and co-founder of Widebot, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “AQL Mind will enable the company to deliver accurate, secure, and personalized AI experiences to Saudi government entities and businesses.”

This funding underscores the growing investor interest in AI solutions tailored to the Arabic-speaking market, reflecting a broader commitment to technological innovation and economic development across the region.
