Wema Bank has announced the launch of the sixth edition of its innovation initiative, Hackaholics 6.0, themed “Beyond Algorithms: Engineering Disruptive Innovation.” This year’s edition introduces an accelerator program designed to empower tech entrepreneurs and startups, reflecting the bank’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement.

Expanding its reach beyond Nigeria, Hackaholics 6.0 will host events in key African tech hubs, including Accra, Ghana, and Kigali, Rwanda. This expansion acknowledges the growing number of applications from these regions and aims to position Africa at the forefront of global technology.

The initiative focuses on attracting bold, cutting-edge solutions in sectors such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, renewable energy, customer experience, and cybersecurity. By fostering a thriving technology ecosystem, Wema Bank aims to stimulate entrepreneurship, attract investment, and accelerate economic development across the continent.

Hackaholics 6.0 will feature a dual-track approach, catering to technical talent and high-growth startups. Regional hackathons are planned across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and Lagos, culminating in a grand finale. Finalists will have the opportunity to join an accelerator program, gaining access to resources and potential funding to further develop their innovations.

This initiative aligns with Wema Bank’s strategic vision for its 80th anniversary in 2025, underscoring the bank’s dedication to supporting technological innovation and economic growth across Africa.
