Update COVID-19 27 December 2020

27 December 2020 — One hundred and fifty-three (153) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2502 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to seven thousand, nine hundred, and seventy (7970). To date, six thousand, two hundred, and eighty-nine (6289) patients have recovered, including fifty-two (62) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and seven (1607) and seventy-four (74) deaths. The 2 new deaths are male of respectively 96 and 61 years old in Kigali.

The new cases are in Kigali (39), Huye (103) tested in Huye prison, Musanze (4), Kayonza (2), Rubavu (2), Gicumbi (1), Burera (1), and Nyagatare (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
