Update COVID-19 14 December 2020

14 December 2020 — Eighty-eight (88) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3329 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to six thousand, seven hundred, and forty-seven (6747). To date, five thousand, nine hundred, and ninety-six (5996) patients have recovered, including forty-one (41) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is six hundred and ninety- five (695) and fifty-six (56) deaths. 

The new cases are in Kigali (31) travelers from abroad put in quarantine, Rubavu (31) cross-border traders, Nyagatare (10), Musanze (6), Gakenke (2), Bugesera (2), Nyamagabe (1), Nyanza (1), Ngororero (1), Karongi (1), Huye (1), and Burera (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
