UNDP internship programme offers an outstanding graduate-level student the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP’s work with the objective of deepening his/her knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles, and activities. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various professional areas.

UNDP activities are based on the premise of embracing diversity and inclusion. This premise is fundamental for the professional enrichment of young people in general, as well as for the UNDP work environment itself. In line with the Agenda 2030 and its pledge of “leaving no one behind”, this internship program aims to provide training and an immersive professional experience for underrepresented people in the United Nation system, such as young women, people with disabilities, people from underprivileged backgrounds, such as low-income families, LGBTI people, people living with HIV, among other groups.

UNDP’s partnership with the Global Fund (GF) makes a vital contribution to UNDP’s Strategic Plan, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the pledge to leave no one behind. UNDP as the Principal Recipient (PR), works with national partners and the Global Fund to ensure management, implementation and oversight of GF grants, while simultaneously strengthening health institutions and systems for national entities.

Under the overall guidance of the Finance Specialist, the finance intern supports the provision of financial services ensuring high quality, accuracy and consistency of work. The finance intern promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.

The finance intern works in close collaboration with the operations and programme staff in the country office and with UNDP HQs staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.
