Banks have many factors to take into account when assessing corporate financing proposals. More recently, the climate implications of new projects are increasingly going under the microscope, as banks come under pressure to avoid lending to oil, gas and coal schemes. But Africa needs energy for its development and its impact on climate is negligible. Is it once again getting a raw deal? Neil Ford discusses.
