OmniRetail, a Nigerian e-commerce startup Secures $20 Million

Nigerian B2B e-commerce startup OmniRetail has raised $20 million in Series A funding, marking a major milestone in its mission to digitize and streamline retail supply chains across Africa.

Led by Tim Kock and James Cavallaro’s Ventures Platform, the round also attracted participation from key global investors including Goodwell Investments, Alitheia Capital, and Y Combinator, which had previously supported the company through its accelerator program.

Founded in 2019 by Wale Adebayo, OmniRetail provides a digital marketplace connecting manufacturers, distributors, and informal retailers, enabling them to transact more efficiently through technology. The company’s flagship product, Omnibiz, helps small and medium-sized retailers order inventory, access credit, and receive logistics support—all through a mobile app.

“This funding validates the impact we’re creating in Nigeria’s fragmented retail space,” said CEO Wale Adebayo. “Our mission is to simplify retail by creating a smarter, faster, and more connected supply chain ecosystem for Africa’s informal merchants.”

The new funds will be used to deepen OmniRetail’s footprint in Nigeria and expand to other African markets including Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. The company also plans to invest in developing its credit and logistics infrastructure, enabling retailers to access working capital and receive same-day deliveries.

Over the past year, OmniRetail has grown rapidly, onboarding over 70,000 retailers and partnering with hundreds of suppliers and FMCG brands. Its innovative approach tackles one of Africa’s most pressing commerce challenges—inefficient retail distribution that drives up costs and reduces product availability for everyday consumers.

With this Series A funding, OmniRetail joins a growing cohort of African tech companies attracting significant global interest and investment, reinforcing confidence in the continent’s digital transformation journey.
