Overview of position
Under the overall supervision & management of the Program Officer (Monitoring, Evaluation & Communications) & the direct supervision of Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant, the Monitoring & Evaluation Intern will be responsible for assisting the monitoring & evaluation team within the community stabilization program.
Role objectives
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in conducting monitoring & evaluation assessments, including baseline, mid term & end line surveys through household surveys, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) & Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
- Assist in monitoring project implementation progress, outcomes, best practices, challenges & lessons learned & recommend actions to the program team.
- Document success stories & lessons learned & ensure timely sharing with the program teams.
- Maintain accurate records of monitoring & evaluation equipment, such as smartphones for data collection, cameras & other electronic devices used for monitoring & documentation.
- Support in organizing & maintaining monitoring & evaluation documentation & ensure that all records are up to date & accessible.
- Assist in training and orienting casual Enumerators to ensure compliance with our clients code of conduct & child safeguarding & protection policies.
- Provide administrative support to the monitoring & evaluation team during the recruitment of casual Enumerators by compiling necessary human resources documents from various locations.
- Assist with processing payments for casual Enumerators, including collecting timesheets & maintaining accurate records.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Training components & learning elements:
- The Intern will gain practical experience in monitoring & evaluation methodologies & data collection techniques.
- The Intern will learn to create & disseminate effective communication products, such as success stories & reports.
- The Intern will acquire skills in administrative tasks, such as processing payments for casual Enumerators.
- The Intern will collaborate with internal & external partners, fostering their skills in teamwork, communication & coordination.
- The Intern will acquire skills in handling administrative tasks, including processing payments & managing documentation.
Project reporting
- This role works under the overall supervision & management of the Program Officer (Monitoring, Evaluation & Communications) & the direct supervision of Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant.
Key competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, business administration or any other appropriate field, communications, international relations, law or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Demonstrated proficiency & knowledge of digital data collection & analysis.
- Experience working or internship for an international NGO or a United Nations agency.
- Excellent & demonstrable analytical, communication & writing skills.
- Familiar with international humanitarian organizations, non governmental or governmental institutions / organizations in a multicultural setting.
- Experience in operational activities both in humanitarian & development sector.
- Work experience in the region is an advantage.
- General knowledge of Microsoft ex. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.) & knowledge of spreadsheet & data analysis.
- Fluency in English & Somali is required (oral & written) & working knowledge of any other locally spoken language is an advantage.
Team management
- This role has no team management responsibility.
