(Ecofin Agency) – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune returned to his country yesterday Dec 29 after he spent about two months in Germany receiving treatment for Covid-19. The information was reported by state-owned news agency APS.

“I passed through difficult moments. I’m happy to be back, thank God. I am on the road to full recovery,” the 75-year-old man said upon his arrival, adding that “being away from the country is a particularly delicate thing, especially for someone in a position of responsibility.”

According to the latest assessment of the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Algeria has 98,988 cases of Covid-19, with 2,745 deaths and 66,550 recoveries. The government has announced a nationwide vaccination campaign starting from January 2021.
