(Ecofin Agency) – The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Augustin Kibassa Maliba, on 25 November 2020. Their exchanges focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the ICT sector.
During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 24th edition of the Cairo ICT Forum 2020 (the international exhibition of telecommunications, information technology and communication for the Middle East and Africa, which was hosted in Cairo from 22 to 25 November), Amr Talaat said that cooperation between the two countries could include capacity building, infrastructure development, technology transfer, provision of expertise.
The Egyptian Minister stressed the importance of accelerating the achievement of digital transformation in both countries for the many economic opportunities it offers.
DRC wants to benefit from Egyptian expertise in ICT, especially in digital transformation. As part of the “Digital Egypt” program, several projects relating to the development of connectivity, e-government, financial inclusion, skills development, innovation, and entrepreneurship are currently underway.
