Charis UAS, a pioneering drone startup, based in Kigali, has raised a substantial yet undisclosed investment from XM2 PURSUIT, a global player in the moving camera market, based in the UK, to accelerate its expansion across Africa.

In a news release, Eric Rutayisire Muziga, the founder and CEO of Charis UAS, welcomed the news and said they were delighted to work with a cutting-edge company like XM2 PURSUIT.

As Rwanda’s first ever licensed UAV company, Charis UAS was launched in 2014 and through its advanced data analytics, the start-up company has greatly assisted a range of governments and private organizations in optimizing their business operations and thus created a significant social impact within communities, such as the use of drones to combat malaria and support local energy programs.

The funding would help the start-up expand its market reach and consolidate its role in Africa as a pioneer in drone services.

Charis UAS operates in Tanzania, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, and Uganda as well.
