As Area Manager for North Darfur, you will be responsible for the successful management of expat and national staff implementing humanitarian and developmental programs, in compliance with Welthungerhilfe and donor requirements, while also managing security-related risks and external communications at the field office level.
Your responsibilities
- Provide direct oversight of project managers, finance officer and logistics officer, as well as direct management of at least one project related to resilience and food security
- Ensure that all project relevant support is in place (monitoring, logistics, finance administration, etc.)
- Ensure that all projects in the area are implemented according to the country programme and the rules and standards of donors and Welthungerhilfe
- Identify co-financing opportunities in the area and develop successful project proposals in collaboration with Head of Programmes and Head of Finance
- Manage the local team supporting the project, maintain high quality delivery standards and ensure professionalism and ethical conduct at all times
- Produce well accurate and high-quality regular reports for internal and donor audiences
- Report to the Country Director on the progress of the programme in the area and any risks associated with the project work, including security-related risks
Your profile
- A university or polytechnic degree in rural development or related disciplines with specific experience in integrated project management
- A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in emergency and development contexts
- Proven experience working in partnership with civil society organizations and in stakeholder management
- Broad donor experience
- Ability to lead teams in a challenging and fragile security environment
- Coordination and organisational skills and a pro-active working style – even under a high workload
- Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
- Excellent spoken and written English; Arabic language skills are an advantage
