African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to Organize Virtual Meeting on the Protection of Broadcasting Organizations

DAKAR, Senegal, April 25, 2022/APO Group/ —

The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) (www.uar-AUB.org) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) are pleased to organize on Tuesday, 26 April 2022, a virtual meeting on the “Revised Draft Text of the WIPO Treaty on Broadcasting Organizations”, for AUB members.

The Draft Treaty was prepared by the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) Acting Chair, in cooperation with the SCCR Vice-Chair and African Experts. 

It has been prepared during the difficult situation where COVID19 has made impossible all normal international work – in order to provide basis for the next steps of the work of the SCCR when the working situation allows a normal meeting activity.

The Draft Treaty aims at developing and maintaining the international protection of the rights of broadcasting organizations in a manner as balanced and effective as possible.
