The Opportunity

**Compensation Range for This Position Is $41,000 – $45,000 depending on experience.

A Senior Human Resources Generalist is an experienced professional who plays a significant role in managing various aspects of the HR portfolio. Their primary responsibility is to oversee the recruitment, selection, and training of employees, as well as being responsible for issues relating to employee compensation, benefits, and performance.

This role will preferably sit on site in Senegal.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Partner with Global Business Partner on best practices and support for international teams.
  • Assist and advise management and employees on HR related matters.
  • Support local and national recruitment and employee selection in line with company policies and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with local employment laws and regulations and advise on local best practice.
  • Manage employee relations and provide guidance to supervisors and managers on employee issues.
  • Manage employee performance and develop effective performance management strategies.
  • Provide training and development programs for employees.
  • Deliver high-quality employee benefits programs that meet the needs of all employees.
  • Maintain HR information systems and keep personnel records up to date.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of HR regulations, benefits, and best practices.
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Able to appropriately prioritize and carry out assigned responsibilities and tasks with excellence, as well as, demonstrating initiative identifying valuable priorities for self and team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills while performing multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Balance of calm and sense of urgency.
  • Problem-solving orientation, good communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Capacity building and training skills.
  • Enjoy working with people both collaboratively and in service.

    Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or human resources.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English required; Additional fluency in French preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an administrative field, required; prior experience in a Human Resource function, preferred.
  • International HR experience, preferred.
  • HRCI or SHRM certificate or international equivalency, required.
  • Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
