Three years after pausing their public verification program, American microblogging and social networking service, Twitter announces on their blog, plans to revamp their process of user identification, and solicits feedback from their subscribers on the proposed new verification policy.

The proposed relaunch plans in 2021 are said to include a revised public application process that begins with a revision to the definition of verified accounts, eligibility, and possible reasons for profile disqualification.

Six categories of account users have been defined to include Government, Companies, Brands and Non- Profit Organizations, News, Entertainment, Sports, Activists, Organizers, and Other Influential Individuals.

The feedback period commenced on November 24, 2020, and is open to the public till December 8, 2020, after which the responses will be reviewed, considered, and communicated with the team for appropriate training. It is expected that the final verification policy is released on December 17, 2020.
