Volvo revealed that its entire car range would be completely electric by 2030.

Joining a rising number of automakers aiming to phase out fossil-fuel engines by the end of the decade.

When asked about potential demand for electric vehicles, Volvo Chief Executive Hkan Samuelsson said, “I am completely sure there will be no consumers who really want to continue with a petrol engine.”

“We agree that an electric vehicle is more appealing to customers.”

By 2025, the Swedish automaker expects half of its global sales to be fully electric, with the other half being hybrid versions.

Electrification, according to Volvo CEO Samuelsson, will mainly impact engine plants and auto suppliers that supply everything from oil filters to fuel injectors and spark plugs.

Volvo says it can “dramatically reduce” the complexity of its product portfolio and give consumers consistent pricing.
