The Program consists construction of 39.5m high embankment dam that will impound 55 million cubic meter of water in Karama, Gatunda and Rukomo sectors that will supply water for domestic and livestock use, irrigation of 10,320 ha area and for production of annual energy of 6,939 MWh through a hydropower scheme with installed capacity of 1000 KW (500×2) to be installed at downstream end of the outlet works. The dam and reservoir will also serve as flood control and for fishing.
