(BOLLORE ) – On Tuesday 25 January 2022, Bolloré Transport & Logistics Chad launched the first truck-driven operation to transport 25 tonnes of locally processed beef, with this initial phase destined for Congo Brazzaville (10 tonnes) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (15 tonnes).
This special cargo, carried by refrigerated container via the Chad-Cameroon-DRC-Congo corridor, is the first in a series that aims to transport a total of 15,000 tonnes of meat to the countries in the sub- region by 2023.
“Our logistics expertise and our environmental management have enabled us to put all the necessary logistics in place throughout the corridor to make this transport feasible. We are pleased to have been selected to take part in this ambitious project and, through it, to support producers in Chad,” explains Cyrille Tetrel, Managing Director at Bolloré Transport & Logistics Chad.
Exports of meat from Chad form part of the Chad Commodities Market Place (CCM) project which will create 98 direct jobs across all sectors and some 500 indirect jobs in sites producing feed for livestock. The CCM project will also benefit around 45,000 people in 300 cooperatives affiliated to Chad’s alliance of cooperatives and mutual insurance bodies, the ACMT.
“We have already put in a lot of work to reorganise our structure, and I am now asking our cooperatives members to strive to ensure that we meet our objectives and that the investment of all involved measures up to our joint ambitions. There are many opportunities for those who wish to engage with us,” states Mr Job Nodjindo, ACMT Coordinator.
